Barberitos 0% Waste Initiative

(Athens, Ga.) Barberitos is excited to announce the current steps the franchise has taken in developing a 0% waste store and becoming more Eco-Friendly. Starting February 2014, all Barberitos locations began serving refreshments in new, clear polypropylene drink cups that are 100% recyclable. Studies have shown that the recycling of plastics help conserve energy and natural resources. Barberitos made the decision to switch from foam to plastic cups in an effort to become more green conscious and environmentally friendly. On April 22nd, in celebration of Earth Day, Barberitos is offering a free drink to all customers who bring in their recyclable Barberitos cup. As for paper, Barberitos uses 100% recycled brown napkins. They have also switched to compostable deli paper and recycled paper to go bags. Founder and CEO, Downing Barber, took the intiative even further by introducing composting in his Five Points location in Athens, GA. Composting has many benefits for the environment, the process helps reduce the amount of air pollution that occurs when disposing of organic scraps. Compost also improves air quality. A decrease in landfill space is the main reason for the introduction of composting into the store. The franchise has always supported the “Farm to Table” initiative and now would like to continue the cycle by returning the food waste back to the environment to grow new plants. Barberitos plans to introduce the first 0% waste restaurant in July 2014. They are also looking into more green ways to operate. Barberitos Jacksonville, FL Now Open!

Barberitos Draws the Attention of Masters Winner, Bubba Watson

What is the first stop the 2012 Masters winner makes when getting to Augusta, GA for his run at a 2nd title? Barberitos Southwest Grille and Cantina, of course! The franchise was ecstatic to see a tweet from the likes of such a well-respected athlete on Friday, August 4th. The Masters Champ tweeted “Gotta start the trip to Augusta off right with @BarberitosPepe!! #BurritosAllWeek.” Barberitos burritos are packed with protein and the choice of 32 fresh ingredients; a combination that is sure to fuel an athlete like Bubba Watson in the week ahead. Barberitos Eater’s Choice Awards Contest

In the year of 2013, the company propelled upwards of 25.10 percent increase in sales from 2012 and same store sales up over 7%. Figure 1, extracted from Nation’s Restaurant News, displays the system-wide sales growth for Barberitos competitors. “ I am very proud of the hard work we have dedicated to the brand. Barberitos Gets the Season Rolling

Barberitos Raises over $11,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness

(Athens, Ga.) On October 1st, Barberitos launched its month-long, system wide Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. On the first of the month, Barberitos hosted a percentage day in which 10% of all day sales were donated to local organizations that actively participate in the fight against breast cancer. In addition, donation jars were placed at the register and breast cancer themed t-shirts were sold throughout the month of October. Barberitos is happy to recognize one outstanding franchisee that raised $2,500 for the cause. Jessica Jones, of Thomasville, and her crew went above and beyond in their fundraising efforts this year. Also, on Thursday October 3rd, Barberitos hosted a breast cancer fundraising party at the Barberitos Franchise headquarters in Athens, GA. The party had free food and drinks as well as live entertainment and an assortment of games. The party and the percentage days were a huge success. Barberitos raised over $11,000 to be donated towards the advancement breast cancer awareness and research.
